For the same group of applicants, the middle 50% range of ACT scores was 32 to 35, and the middle 50% range of scores on the SAT was 1430 to 1520.
Along with impressive grade point averages and scores on standardized tests, 84% of the students who enrolled into Villanova in 2021 were in the top 10% of their high school classes.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, freshman applicants have been granted the opportunity to choose whether or not to submit standardized test scores, and the percentage of applicants admitted to the school who chose to submit either ACT or SAT scores in 2022 was 43%, according to the same source.
Students will continue to have the option to submit standardized test scores for the testing cycle in the 2022 to 2023 academic year.

How to Apply to Villanova for Early Action or Early Decision
Villanova University reviews all applications, including Early Action and Early Decision, holistically in order to gain an overall understanding of the applicant’s academic history and personal background.
All students apply through the Common Application and are required to submit multiple essays, high school transcripts, and at least one letter of recommendation. The university also charges a fee of $80 which can be waived upon verification of financial need.
The essay requirement consists of the essay required by the Common Application as well as two essays specific to Villanova University.
The first of the two Villanova essays gives applicants the opportunity to demonstrate their views and experiences of the world by choosing from one of five prompts, and the second essay for Villanova asks students to describe the reasons they want to attend the university and how they plan to contribute to the university’s community.
Along with the writing supplements, students must have a counselor submit their high school transcript(s) through the Common Application.
Villanova requires that students also submit a letter of recommendation from a teacher who can attest to the student’s academic and classroom performance.
In an effort to make sure the application process is as fair as possible, Villanova will only accept one teacher letter of recommendation, but students do have the option to submit an additional recommendation from a counselor.
Students who apply through the school’s Early Action or Early Decision II plans are further required to have their counselors submit their early senior grades as soon as they are available.
This requirement extends to deferred Early Action applicants and deferred Early Decision I applicants.
Applicants have the option to submit standardized test scores, although they are not currently required. The school also instructs students who wish to apply for financial aid to do so at the same time they submit their applications to the school.
